Medacta

Medacta was founded in 1999 in Castel San Pietro, Switzerland by Dr. Alberto Siccardi, an orthopaedic patient whose own joint replacement inspired the company. Today it is active in over 70 countries and listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange, designing implants and instruments for joint replacement, spine surgery, sports medicine and extremities.

Medacta pioneered AMIS, the Anterior Minimally Invasive Surgery approach for hip replacement introduced in 2004, which follows an intermuscular and internervous path and is supported by dedicated instrumentation including the AMIS Mobile Leg Positioner and the AMIStem. The GMK knee family includes the GMK Sphere, with its fully congruent medial ball-in-socket compartment for functional stability, and the MectaCem cemented line carries more than 30 years of clinical heritage. The MySolutions personalized ecosystem adds 3D preoperative planning and patient-matched guides through MyKnee, MyHip, MyShoulder and MySpine, and surgeon education runs through the M.O.R.E. Institute, established in 2004.
